Bots that can really do much to SL are very minimal.

Think about it, if there were as many bots on SL as people in our average society makes, we'd be fucked. But thankfully most bots are denied connection by our secured SSL and the forum itself.

That may be true against bots themselves, but if they are people copying and pasting, doesn't work.

Again, only works if there is 0 human interaction.

RE: Don't allow 3rd world IPs on SL #12
What I did to keep bots out of my forum (over 300 denied), was install the StopForumSpam plugin and implement the hidden captcha with the name URL.

Human spammers are very minimal and can be minified by having links disabled for user with under 20 posts, by the time they could make 20 posts, you'd know whether they were LQ or not.

It's funny watching this thread develop as the spam fills up the World News section. Though I may not know a lot, human spammers shouldn't be too difficult to deal with, right?

Not unless they're good at it. Wink

If I ever go to India and I can't get on SL, I'll be pissed at you, Ado. Tongue

Just open a poll. Bots usually use proxies anyways, but this would remove all of those annoying pakis.

No. Never. Like, never. :S

If you are in a 3rd world country, it should redirect you to a page with an input box where you input your IP for Oni to allow, along with a random number of sentences on a random topic to type out to prove you are not a bot.
The number of sentences and topic can be randomly drawn from an array.
This will basically kill spam on SL.

Does this include Haiti? I like to browse on here sometimes using my VPN in Haiti.

Did anyone even read my suggestion? If yes, what do you think?

I think this would be much easier as Oni would not have to be bothered, registration won't take too long when he's drunk, and the system cannot be bypassed with proxies. Also, I think that the gates should be closed now. HQ activity is on the decline.

Closing gates? No. Only reason I was able to join was cos they were open, why deny someone else that?

Sentence thing would work only if there isn't any human interaction.

I still think that people with 25 or less posts should have a "links disabled until reviewed by a moderator" type thing. Would solve much of the issues.
