Getting a (2) cats was the best thing I've ever done. Growing up my mom refused to have pets (but got one after we moved out -_-), so it was something I had always longed for.
I can tell you from personal experience that getting a pet cured me from the curse of seeking companionship in all the wrong places. If you ever feel like you're in this position, do consider getting a pet.

But beware, it's a decade long commitment, and travelling won't be as easy as before.

But a commitment that's certainly well worth It.

Prior to getting a cade, I had absolutely no idea just how human-like they really are (in private). Their individual personalities feel so .. real? You typically don't realize this unless you spend enough time with one

I still clearly remember my beautiful kitty, and dearly miss her and the time we spent together. I'm hoping to sneak one In to my apartment without anyone noticing.
