If it's that straight forward, then I might do it over the weekend. Couple of friends with similar workflows haven't yet gotten back to me regarding their experiences, so I'll check with them if they did, and if they found anything wrong with it, just to make the jump more comfy

Yes, It's best to gather an array of Information prior to making the decision to upgrade.

For your reference, my posts are based on upgrading 7 laptops with no Issues whatsoever. Bear In mind, each laptop Is running the latest hardware - 11th Gen CPUs, NVMe SSDs, RTX 360 - RTX 380 GPUs and a minimum of 16 GB 3200 MHz Ram.

I have a similar laptop, sadly 10th gen only, I'm more worried about how it might break programs that have finicky environments (xilinx, self made python stuff, powershell scripts...)

In terms of running Windows 11, It's no different to the 11th gen.

Is Windows 10 your current OS?

If so and given your tools are running smoothly, I don't see why there'd be compatibility Issues and/or loss of functionality when executed In Windows 11.

Correct. WIndows 11 is a bunch of "enhancements" that don't really change the behavior of (most) things.
It does however make everything a floating app, and completely destroy the UI by doing so, in my eyes.
I much prefer Win10 (still, yuck) for work and "personal malware-related hobbies."

As for specifically Python and other languages/libraries, there is no notable change in behavior.

So, you mean there's no more snapping? Like, things just float on top of each other?
I've never had to actually install a TWM in windows, but sounds like I'll have to

I absolutely agree.

I have Windows 11 Installed on 7 laptops and since Its official release date, I've yet to experience compatibility Issues nor loss of functionality with every app/tool I've used.

I've been experimenting with OpenBSD for the last few weeks and it kinda grew on me. It's not really a "muh main desktop" material but I dig its philosophy. Being BSD means that a lot of love went to writing documentation, BSD.rc init system is an absolute delight to use, ports system reminds me of gentoo's portage but instead of writing USE flags you can just check them via curses dialog. And lastly, pf is, hands down, the best firewall I have ever used. Also you can hack the install on any linux enabled vps you have console access to. No need for custom images, but that is *BSD feature in general I think, I am pretty sure I could install FreeBSD the same way.
