Especially in places that have become more urbanized. Depending where a couple bought their house 50 years ago, they could be millionaires now.

You're absolutely spot-on.

Take It from someone who's been there, done that (yours truly)- pump every dime you have Into paying off the mortgage. Financially, you won't have a care In the world thereafter.

My grandmother owns a rent controlled apartment somewhere in NYC. The average rent for her AREA is $4,000 a month. She pays around $600 a month. The owners have been trying to buy her out or find a reason to evict her for the past 10 years, but due to the clause they signed, her rent control is in effect for the entirety of her span living in that apartment; EVEN if she re-news the lease with them. It's insane and I've been telling her for years to move to a newer less expensive state(they've offered her upwards of $200,000 to buy her out of there)

Good for her. If they're offering her $200,000, that means they intend to make much more out of the transaction.

I've told her straight up that when she dies, I wanna inherit her lease LMFAOOOO. Cause $600 a month in the area she lives in is literally god-tier.

I would rather prefer to live in an apartment where I suppose my expense will be within my budget. Since building maintenance and cost of common works will be shared, it will be easy on my pocket.

It is better to own a small place be it an apartment or house rather than staying in a rented place. I will be moving into my new apartment very soon. Once I clear that mortgage loan, I will sell it and invest in a house.

Absolutely.

Rent Is throwing your money away. At least with a mortgage that's sometimes no more expensive than renting, the property will one day be your own.

I would prefer a house rather than an apartment. Especially if you have pets at home and you require privacy, go in for a house even if it costs more.

If you are lazy like me....go for an apartment but do not rent it as it is a criminal waste of money.
