Social Engineering prisoner escape via phone... - Vultra - 05-22-2018 Just read an article that I found extraordinary and amazing from how far social engineering can be used these days even being in prison. Quote:This includes ‘diversion theft’ (stealing something to steal something bigger later) and tailgating (piggybacking people into secure areas that should ordinarily be off limit). One convicted fraudster even used social engineering to escape from prison in the UK recently. And you're 100% correct. You can have the best security measures Implemented, all the IDS/IPS systems and WAFs In place but If the user behind the PC simply hands over the password due to a well-crafted social engineering attack, the technical side of It (security) Is futile.
