Bypassing word filters with homoglyphs - meow - 08-10-2016 This isn't much of a tutorial but I had no idea where else to put this. Homoglyph - In orthography and typography, a homoglyph is one of two or more graphemes, characters, or glyphs with shapes that appear identical or very similar (Source: Wikipedia). Doing this does require that whatever you're typing into accepts unicode characters, me and @Ayumi used this to spam stuff like "I fucking hate niggers" on Town of Salem which is a game with a strict word filter. 1. Go to http://www.irongeek.com/homoglyph-attack-generator.php 2. Type in whatever you're wanting to say 3. Choose the most similar looking characters (homoglyphs) for the word that's being filtered 4. Copy the new string and paste it wherever you like Protip - you only need to change one character in the word being filtered and it will go right by the filter, so pick the character with the most similar looking matches for the best result. What an accomplishment you two have claimed. RE: Bypassing word filters with homoglyphs - NaB3nzo - 08-11-2016 It's actually pretty cool, I'm surprised how services that block offensive word don't use this for their own filtering process... But seriously dude "I fucking hate niggers"? You could at least have spammed with something funny RE: Bypassing word filters with homoglyphs - pvnk - 08-11-2016 (08-11-2016, 02:59 PM)NaB3nzo Wrote: It's actually pretty cool, I'm surprised how services that block offensive word don't use this for their own filtering process... Racism is the extent of their sense of humor. There's a certain role in the game which actually requires you to get killed in order to win, that's why we spammed that -- it's the easiest way to get lynched. http://town-of-salem.wikia.com/wiki/Jester#Mechanics (08-11-2016, 05:12 PM)Primitive Wrote:(08-11-2016, 02:59 PM)NaB3nzo Wrote: It's actually pretty cool, I'm surprised how services that block offensive word don't use this for their own filtering process... I'll use your words against you for this. (04-18-2016, 02:10 AM)Primitive Wrote: If I was a little racist, so be it. I'm not going to go out on my way to insult or decrease their quality of life. I'll just keep the little bit of racism that I find comedic to myself. I don't care about if you're "offended". Hang yourself. I'm not going to conform to someone's idea of "a perfect world". Now stop posting on my threads please, you're annoying. RE: Bypassing word filters with homoglyphs - sleaze - 08-11-2016 this also makes for a decent anti-spam technique for emails and shit RE: Bypassing word filters with homoglyphs - Wildfire - 08-12-2016 Interesting concept, abuse of Unicode. Wouldn't trim() wreck this though? RE: Bypassing word filters with homoglyphs - meow - 08-12-2016 (08-12-2016, 02:46 AM)Axari Wrote: Interesting concept, abuse of Unicode. Wouldn't trim() wreck this though? Not by default. You could make the argument that any string replacing/checking function can wreck this, but do you think it's common for developers to think about non-printable characters when making input forms not guarded by functions like ctype_alnum? |
