Get rid of Windows, it's dangerous - FireStorm - 09-01-2015 Running Windows? 7/8/8.1/10 Get rid of it. M$ is implementing telemetry and other crap. Screw them. I personally reimaged all machines to Debian the other day from Windows 7. Screw them trying to strip privacy. RE: Get rid of Windows, it's dangerous - BlueScreen - 09-01-2015 So? It's not like they actually steal your data. The "keylogger" is a internet explorer feature that send your words to bing as you type in your task/search bar on the top of Edge and IE in order to give you recommendations on where to go exactly like google is doing with their search engine and web browser. This can all be disabled. There is no reason why you would leave Windows to a inferior (unless you do more complicated tasks like server hosting or just don't play vidya ever) OS just yet. Take off your tinfoil hat: its not good for you hair. RE: Get rid of Windows, it's dangerous - FireStorm - 09-01-2015 (09-01-2015, 07:39 PM)BlueScreen Wrote: So? My tinfoil hat does me wonders. I'd rather have privacy over M$. RE: Get rid of Windows, it's dangerous - lux - 09-01-2015 (09-01-2015, 07:39 PM)BlueScreen Wrote: So? There has been evidence that disabling all of the features and blocking ms at system level, it still makes a call to Microsoft and receives a reply, and the only way to avoid this would be to spoof the server and the response. But still, no need for tinfoil hats, not yet. While we're on the topic of Windows 10, I just want to point out that the Wifi Sense, one of the more infamous features is one of my favorite feature yet. I haven't had to look at my receipt in order to hop on to a restaurant or kiosk Wifi ever since I installed Windows 10. I also don't have to give people coming by my house the wifi password anymore. This is great, and although I can see this being kind of an issue in places where you need a employee ID to sign in and it automatically shares it to all your skype friends, you do have to click two extra options in order to enable it which is also great. Glory to our Microsoftian overlords. RE: Get rid of Windows, it's dangerous - Eclipse - 09-01-2015 Sharing WiFi passwords is the least of your concerns. They have given themselves the right to look through your "private" communications, sync encryption recovery keys, and basically do anything they deem appropriate to "ensure security". Network is limited in terms of access, speed, and everything is logged for a month. RE: Get rid of Windows, it's dangerous - Jolly - 09-01-2015 Unless they delete all of my files dues to some spooky mistype coding error, I don't really care. They can have all the incest and bondage hentai their hearts could ever long for till the end of their lives, after all, the programmer is sleepless anyway. I'm certain that after a few looks around my files, they won't be coming back anytime soon and if they do, well, I'm making another person happy then I guess. ![]() Rather than that though, I'm surprised to see that BlueSreen is actually saying something that has a legit point! What sorcery is this!? RE: Get rid of Windows, it's dangerous - blackhatcat - 09-01-2015 Jesus christ you "nothing to hide" kids make me sick. I'm not even going to bother convincing anyone to stop using Microsoft products anymore because clearly you idiots will continue to use them. Regarding what @BlueScreen said, you can't disable that shit no matter how hard you try because they don't want you to, don't believe me? Run something like peerblock and you can see every time Windows pings home. They do more than keylog the browser, we don't even know about the full extent of this mass surveillance but they include taking screenshots every time you install something and keylogging everything you type in the start menu (when you search for files, etc). You are surrendering your privacy to a 3rd party company that uses you to make money. Hurr durr tinfoil hat but someone out there knows and has access to everything you've ever done and how can you think that it will never be used against you in any way? I'll quote my old post from another thread where we talked about exactly the same topic. As for the screenshot thing, I've personally never read into this, though I don't recall seeing anything important about it in the when I was reading the EULA. You'd be surprised how much those /g/entoofags got wrong. (oh bing you're so silly! <3). (microsoft, microsoft, microsoft, microsoft, microsoft, microsoft!) Edit: Why are you in invisible mode? As I said to the other person, tinfoil is proven to have lasting negative effect on your hair. |
