Quick Software Question(Recording For Cap Card) - Gingie - 09-01-2013 I got my capture card a little while ago and I'm still trying to find a good software to use. I've used ULead, Cyberlink, and a couple programs intended for VHS/DVD. I need one that will record with low file size. Anyone got any ideas on one?? Thanks a ton! RE: Quick Software Question(Recording For Cap Card) - Eclipse - 09-01-2013 Use Mirillis Action. It's absolutely amazing. It can record at up to 1080p in various formats and can record in 3 modes. Gaming mode, which records like fraps, windows mode, which records the desktop, and crop mode, where you can select which part of the screen you want to record. There is no drop in frame rates when recording with this. It encodes the video slightly but if the file size is too large, you can always use virtualdub to encode it further. I suppose you are familiar with Virtualdub. If not then use the Divix codec and find a tut online. I would recommend buying it as it puts a watermark on your recordings in the free trial. http://mirillis.com/en/products/action.html RE: Quick Software Question(Recording For Cap Card) - Gingie - 09-01-2013 Does it record straight off the capture card?? Or just the screen?? RE: Quick Software Question(Recording For Cap Card) - devit - 09-01-2013 (deleted this post as I failed with the answer.) I think it's just the screen. RE: Quick Software Question(Recording For Cap Card) - Hexadecimal - 09-03-2013 I've used Mirillis Action before. It's meant for PC gaming, not external video recording sources (aka capture cards). There aren't many programs out there that I know of that can compress a video file while recording it. Your best bet (in my opinion) is to record it uncompressed, then later render it through Sony Vegas or Camtasia Studio (or any other video editing software). Uncompressed usually has better quality than compressed does either way. RE: Quick Software Question(Recording For Cap Card) - Gingie - 09-03-2013 I recorded like 15 mins of gameplay, sent to Sony Vegas, and it came out as a 3gb file... The original was like a gb NOTE: Cap program was Cyberlink RE: Quick Software Question(Recording For Cap Card) - Hexadecimal - 09-04-2013 I recommend rendering as .wmv, with the bitrate of the video set to 6 mbps. That usually gives me pretty quality, as well as a decently small file size (15 minutes is around 400-700 mb.). What sort of file type does Cyberlink record into? RE: Quick Software Question(Recording For Cap Card) - Gingie - 09-04-2013 Cyberlink records into .mpeg files . But I'll do that and let you know how it goes .
