Quick Software Question(Recording For Cap Card) 09-01-2013, 07:19 AM
#1
I got my capture card a little while ago and I'm still trying to find a good software to use. I've used ULead, Cyberlink, and a couple programs intended for VHS/DVD. I need one that will record with low file size. Anyone got any ideas on one?? Thanks a ton!

I've used Mirillis Action before. It's meant for PC gaming, not external video recording sources (aka capture cards).
There aren't many programs out there that I know of that can compress a video file while recording it. Your best bet (in my opinion) is to record it uncompressed, then later render it through Sony Vegas or Camtasia Studio (or any other video editing software). Uncompressed usually has better quality than compressed does either way.

I recorded like 15 mins of gameplay, sent to Sony Vegas, and it came out as a 3gb file... The original was like a gb
NOTE: Cap program was Cyberlink

I recommend rendering as .wmv, with the bitrate of the video set to 6 mbps. That usually gives me pretty quality, as well as a decently small file size (15 minutes is around 400-700 mb.).
What sort of file type does Cyberlink record into?
