But it helps. From an employer's point of view, if they're hiring for a skilled job, and they have two candidates; one with a degree, one without, who do you think they'll hire? Of course there's the shitty unskilled jobs that anyone can do, but do you really want to? I understand where your coming from. But another thing to take into consideration is what if the person with the degree is not familiar or educated with that specific job while the person without the degree has experience with it. That can turn into a hard decision for the employer. I would hope the employer chooses the right person for the job. But if they both have no experience with that position then most likely the employer will choose the one with the degree. But a job is as job if it brings income then cool, its better then no income. Every business needs a worker that includes low paying jobs such as McDonalds or a bar tender, etc. RE: Should school be required? - Akane - 06-22-2015 (06-22-2015, 11:22 PM)Fire Wrote: I understand where your coming from. An unintelligent person could do the job for thirty years and be the best at it, but if something changed or went wrong, he wouldn't be as well equipped to deal with it than a qualified person. The thing is, anyone can do a job without actually understanding what they're doing. They know that if I press this button and then this one, this shit happens, while a qualified person actually understands what it is that they're doing. RE: Should school be required? - Dyme - 06-22-2015 School should be required, but it needs to be reformed. I think a high school education is valuable if they start teaching the right things. The system is behind the times, and students are wasting too much of their lives cramming useless shit in their brains. They should teach things that you'd actually need in life. You're taught moral values and social skills in the most important time of your life, your childhood. Before you start spewing that dumb shit at least come up with a good argument. Unless you have crazy luck, moral values and social skills don't get your PHD's and all the rest of that. |
