Sure, you can defend yourself with an automatic rifle, but you can defend yourself the same with a semiautomatic 9mm pistol. That's grand, but once again I must stress that the constitution gives us "the right to bear arms," not just for self-protection but for protection against tyrannical governments (including our own). People like George Washington clearly stated this while they were in office and there is no doubt they wanted it this way. Now, even if technological advancement makes our weaponry worthless, it's not fair to take away that weaponry. If you're wanting to take away guns, you're wanting to infringe upon rights that the constitution gives. The constitution protects weaponry like semi-automatic assault rifles, as the government uses those as well. Keep in mind, if we were to disregard the constitution in such a manner it would only be fair to give Toth's proposal some thought as well. RE: Child kills family, inspiration from movie. - workaholics - 01-31-2013 Its impossible to ban guns in America. You don't need a fully automatic assault rifle, for insurgency or for day-to-day use(personal protection, hunting). Have you ever hunted with an AR-15? Doesn't sound like it, just saying.. Also building a freeway and registering jewish citizens, then slaughtering them is two TOTALLY different things. I, for one, think Adolf Hitler was one the most, if not THE MOST, effective influential speaker the world has ever seen. Not saying propaganda should be banned though. Whether anyone likes it or not, patterns happen. History repeats it self, over, and over, and over again. Eventually someone needs to start looking at the patterns or we will all be consumed in our own ignorance. Neither side of this argument will ever be swayed to the other side.

I've hunted with bigger guns than an AR-15 while I was on business in Alaska, and it wasn't even sporting. It takes no skill, and therefore has no challenge in it, to hold down a trigger and point. Yes, Hitler was an effective speaker, in the end that's all that mattered. He didn't take the guns of the free people, did they stand up to a tyrannical government? Also, at that Texas proposal, shit like this Texas. You're part of a union, act like it. Democracy works BECAUSE you can't pick and choose which parts of a democratically passed law system you like. The second you start refusing certain parts of the law because you don't like them, YOU'RE becoming the tyrant. I do not agree with it. We would fall flat on our face. We have plenty of jobs and what not, but let's be honest.. All it takes is a few rednecks to start an uproar. RE: Child kills family, inspiration from movie. - w00t - 02-01-2013 All states have the right to secede, so I'm not sure where that come from. There isn't some law on the books that says "All states can't succeed, unless the state name starts with a T and rhymes with exas." EDIT: Damn it spell-check. Well all the states did try to secede (you have a typo, but i knew what you meant) and that hasn't even been acknowledged by the president yet. So in reality we can never and will never secede. I'll post my response on your argument tomorrow. Technically, when Texas joined the Union it withheld it's right to secede. However, the constitution would guard other states' right to secede. RE: Child kills family, inspiration from movie. - w00t - 02-01-2013 There is no clause in the Texas Constitution, or their annexation agreement, that explicitly states they are given any special rights in regards to secession. All states hold the right to secede, as all powers not regulated by the federal government are then allocated to the state, secession being among them. |
