A z87 board cant hold a 6700k. Only the z170 chipset boards can. I pray for you. I hope it's up and running by the end of the day. I used to want to try and put together my own machine one day (I'm too PC illiterate) but watching this process has put me right off. RE: $1-1.5k Budget Upgrade, Some Parts Already - Skullmeat - 03-29-2016 Nothing ever goes as planned when PC building. Also, its rare to get a faulty motherboard. RE: $1-1.5k Budget Upgrade, Some Parts Already - Oni - 03-29-2016 99.9% done. My PCIE riser broke and almost fried things. Getting a more expensive one now. Spoiler:The graphics card I ordered was supposed to be the open-box part, not the motherboard. I was surprised when I got the items from in-store pickup and the motherboard looked to be open-box and the graphics card was new. RE: $1-1.5k Budget Upgrade, Some Parts Already - Oni - 03-30-2016 I'm waiting on a USB 3.0 (20-pin) extension. I'll post pictures when I get it. Wondering what games can test this Titan X (if such a thing exists?!).
