Wrong.

You do know that the whole idea behind these programs is to eliminate human interaction with data until a threat is confirmed, right? A pattern of messages that get flagged would need to be found for the data to ever even leave the secure storage.

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. I was talking about America.

I guarantee you bin Ladin family members do business in the US. My point was that power doesn't actually mean you get ignored in surveillance programs.

True, but do you think the leader of this project is being monitored? Probably, but I'm sure he's erasing what he doesn't want seen. I'm therefor going to say that if your powerful enough and you have connections with that guy, then you can make data go away.

RE: We're all fucked. - w00t - 08-16-2013

You can't magically make data go away. If you send it over the network, there's usually at least 10 servers that likely log the traffic.

Ya, I'm talking about the people who have access to all those servers. The powerful people.

I saw the video, it clearly states the the software was SUPPOSED to be used for non US citizens in foreign countries, who's to say they're not lying as always?

The guy explaining the video clearly implies that we're being monitored.

If someone somehow owns every computer from point a to point b, then they aren't communicating with anyone but themselves.

I get the point you're trying to make, but it doesn't make practical sense.
