RE: Should school be required? - Earth - 06-21-2015 I personally believe that people should have the right to make the choice on there own. Why the hell should somebody be forced to do something they do not want to do. If a person does not want to be in school then so be it. I left school for certain reasons because if I didn't id be in jail. The education system is fucked. I learned more on my own in 1 year then the school taught me in 3. All the teachers did was relax with there feet on the desk texting or they had there eyes glued to the computer screen. When was the last time that you met a kid competent enough to be able to make that decision. Kids don't want to go to school! At least not until its too late. It's a nice notion, but impractical in reality. You obviously had sucky teachers and are then classifying all of them as sucky, that's like having a bad experience with a cop then saying all of them are bad. Kids brains are still developing during the time of school, if you think they should be able to choose not to get a proper education then it seems you didn't get yours. RE: Should school be required? - m0dals0ul - 06-22-2015 Not sure how it's done for you guys, but you spend 10 years at 3 different levels of schooling which count for NOTHING until years 11, 12 and 13. Your results in these years determine on your eligibility for University entrance. etc. It's totally fucked, things need to change. RE: Should school be required? - Jolly - 06-22-2015 That line of thought is too simple, reality is different. School isn't only there for people to attain basic knowledge but to also develop the brains of children and teenagers into a level in which it can process through more complex problems that an adult will need to inevitably survive in society both socially and financially. What's more important, school serves also to improve an individuals social skills along with moral values. In school people learn to interact with others, make friends and connections and how to work together with others. Were they to be home-schooled, like a lot of children from Christian parents are, their moral values along with attainable knowledge would be entirely in the mercy of their parents ideology, thus creating a generation of children who can't adapt into the constantly changing social values and changes. They'd also have a hard time co-operating with others. Knowledge is power. Education is the keystone for a functioning society, it has been for centuries and will continue to be so. Like it or not, it is necessary. RE: Should school be required? - lux - 06-22-2015 Look at under-developed countries such as India, Thailand and the Philippines. Countries where education is privilege. And under-educated society equates to an under developed country, because your work force consists of labourers and farmers, no educates. Sigh... like other people have said... core studies isn't all you learn when you go to school. You're taught moral values and social skills in the most important time of your life, your childhood. Before you start spewing that dumb shit at least come up with a good argument. You don't need a degree to survive in life, it'll just benefit you to have one. I been to 5 different schools it was all the same thing. And if you read my post you would clearly see that I had to leave school so therefore I didn't get mine. And please don't put words in my mouth because I never classified anything. And you know what my response is still final. A person should not be forced to do something they do not want to do and the end result being if they do not go to school they go to juvenile hall or some detention center. This is supposed to be a free country and I will not be told how to eat, shit piss or sleep, I will not be told how to live my life I will live it the way I want. |
