i have used common sence so far and i did'ny got infected since i purchased my Laptop. Paying for antivirus is useless, i would rather pay for VPN only. And as a Cyber Sec analyst, i use kaspersky security cloud free edition on all the computers of my organization except for me.

Windows Defender, Malwarebytes, and common sense are all you need.

Windows defender, a firewall and common sense will get you far enough, at least for personal use.

Company wise, this suggestion will obviously fall apart.

If a bad actor really wants to get to you, they will get to you.

I think most consumer level AV software subs are a scam, but I think it makes most non techy people feel safer knowing they pay for something to keep them protected (even if it's not as great as it says)

For personal use and smaller orgs MWB/defender/common sense are fine, but I think in a larger organization you would want some sort of enterprise scale software to handle hundreds or thousands of devices. Partly for SLA that comes with it, and partly for the automation tools.

Since the best AV is common sense, there's no better solutionSmile

Necessary, no. Convenient, yes.

Actually, yes. There's so much intrusive advertising on every site today that it's just awful.
