Your kind is the reason I denounced my faith. RE: Do we need a "God" to act morally? - Four - 05-19-2013 I believe people act more morally without a god than with a god. Nothing really to back it up other than that believing causes people to stupid things and act like an asshole. I can't go into my one friends house since I'm an atheist and his dad is a Catholic. Even when you say the littlest thing around him about not believing, he gets all mad and goes into a big rant about it like the guy above. RE: Do we need a "God" to act morally? - PhargedPhreak - 02-08-2017 Correct. But any particular belief system you concoct will have certain assumptions. One assumption might be "we assert that stealing is bad and sharing is good". Point is: without a holy book to absolutely define right and wrong, anything at all is possible. A hedonist might think "good" means being able to do whatever the fuck they want. A "good" christian might think that is "bad". RE: Do we need a "God" to act morally? - Botanicals - 02-08-2017 I do not believe so. In fact, if moral-imposing religion was never invented, I believe we'd live in an even more moral and pure society. RE: Do we need a "God" to act morally? - Asura - 02-08-2017 "God" is not necessary to act morally. Personally, I just think that if you allow a book of fairy tales(from any religion) control how you live, you're not thinking nor living for yourself. |
