Auto-save function - Bish0pQ - 03-16-2017

Hello everyone,

So I have had a few times that on accident I deleted the thread text when I was busy typing it. It's really a waste of time and copying after every 10 lines isn't that nice either.

Would it be hard to implement an auto-save feature when creating larger threads? Maybe just a checkbox we can tick if you want to enable auto-save or not. It shouldn't be too hard to implement right?

What do you guys think of this and is this even possible @Oni?

I think this is a good idea, I've done this so many times too!

Nice Idea buddy..
You can make a table in database for this,, While writing auto save a text to the database then after posting , delete the text...

This is definitely possible using some simple AJAX and the existing MyBB drafting system. I think the only reason it doesn't come standard is due to the potential bandwidth overhead, but even that can be minimized.

All around great suggestion. In the meantime, Ctrl+Z works in a pinch, but you might lose some content.

I definitely have written a few posts on android and accidentally clicked the back button, losing all my work. Would definitely be nice to have an auto draft feature.

I was going to also mention Ctrl+Z which always saves me, but that's pretty unhelpful if you do click the back button. I'm all for this is enough people are having the same troubles.

I often copy my stuff to my clipboard after a few lines.

You do realize that ctrl z is a thing.

If you are going for a massive thread change. Just ctrl a, ctrl c it before doing anything else.

Never had this happen to me
