I'm 17 and I've got braces too. Got the one for my lower jaw just 2 weeks ago and I'm already sick of it. I went to the clinic today and I told them I wanted to get it removed. This American woman was somewhat disappointed (I think it's because of the money rather than the condition of my teeth) - they removed the pendulum and the braces on the lower jaw. I received a letter which my parents have to sign so I can get it removed. Everyone tells me not to, but screw what everybody else thinks of it. I'm getting it removed anyway.
