suicide = weak? 02-21-2013, 02:55 AM

I think it's the most personal choice there is, and I don't think it's weak. Some people do make this decision rashly, but I think that's because things in their lives are so intense that they just can't see past them on their own--instead of seeking outside help to gain perspective on the situation, they get hung up on their own doubts and choose death instead of a life that they think is hopeless.
Other people give plenty of thought to their situation before they make this decision, and I think some of them really do weigh the pro's and con's before they make their final plans. And I very much support those who have decided they want to die with dignity while they are still able (people with a terminal illness or a condition that will cause them to physically or mentally deteriorate, for example).
Whatever the scenario, I don't think that suicide is ever intended to be selfish or weak. Suicide certainly isn't always the right decision, but if somebody really wants to die, they will find a way to do it.
A life can only belong to the person living it, so who are we to try to hold someone captive in a life they do not want?
