intel core i7-980x, is it good? #1
Hi i was wondering if the Intel core i7-980x is still viable.
It seems really good to me but its pretty old.
I'm thinking of buying a few and wanted some input before making the purchase.
Thanks!

It really depends on your own needs, is it a good CPU if you can get it for a descent price but if you need something more powerful you can check out https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu...GHz&id=866 .

I can get them for like 25 bucks each, its a really good price for what seems to me as good hardware. I dont know what to do with it though...

for 25$ I mean hell I'd grab a few for a few systems, servers and such for that cheap. For gaming sure they will do alright don't expect the best performance though.

Might bottleneck a bit depending on your card just due to the age of the CPU. For 25$ though, still a steal.

Yes, but it's not ideal. Still, the 980x extreme was $1.4k, it's still like $140, so that's a great price.

For that price, you can't go wrong.

Whether It's does suffice your needs (as stated above), depends on your overall usability.

Hell if you can't find any uses for them there is always flipping them on a marketplace (creigslist, ebay, here).

To be fair, that was what I thought he was going to do until I read further. I can't see any particular cons to it! Seems like there are a lot of option available, so I say, why not?
