Maybe the iPhone is downloading some updates or something?
It's obvious that there's something running in the background on the iPhone.

I'm going to test this later when I get home on my wifi. This is interesting are you sure your iphone wasn't downloading updates?

Interesting, I'm gonna test it for myself.
After 8 tests, 4 with my WiFi on and 4 with it off, my speeds were significantly higher with my iPhone's WiFi disabled. Not a debilitating difference like you've seen, but it is noticeable. Nice observation man.

Check how many apps you got open on your iphone, by double clicking the home button thing, then close some. Do you have any apps that use a noticeable amount of internet alone?
