In the psychiatric industry ( stayed at a psych ward one too many times as a teen) when a patient says "I see red" it means they are so filled with rage they can't control themselves on a basis that would be considered normal. (control is more primitive essentially something went wrong in the prefrontal cortex and basal conscious control is greatly diminished to the point where the person has a loss of "control" over themselves.)
This saying of course doesn't have to mean having total loss of control instead to could be simply to get angry.
eg "All I saw was red then when I came back I had beaten him to a near pulp"
Commonly used by criminals accused of assault.
