I think that this is a very complicated topic.
What is happiness? This can be different for different people. Maybe you are happy because your financial goals are met, you don't have to worry about any financial issues. You can keep your family safe, health care, large home, nice car, etc. right? However there's other aspects, perhaps more traditional ones. Building a family could be part of that goal. Having friends that aren't there because of your money, but because of you as a person. Maybe you like not working and want to just enjoy an early retirement. An early retirement won't make you happy unless you feel fulfilled or you feel as if you've achieved your purpose in life. For some people those things of course don't matter and they just want to enjoy their time.
I think if you grow up with money, you end up lost and perhaps with little purpose. You can probably see this with how people spend their life and how people act when they've grown up with money rather than building up their money. People who build up their money tend to feel happier because they've achieved their goals, their purpose. When you build up as well, you end up understanding what relationships are only there because of how you've succeeded versus relationships that are there for you and you only (fake people vs real ones I guess).
Obviously I'm getting sidetracked here but they are all part of leading to someone feeling happy. At the end its mostly about purpose, fulfillment, and of course money.
This is my conclusion, money won't buy happiness, but it definitely takes away a lot of issues that would make you unhappy.
Sorry if I haven't articulated myself well in this post, I went with the flow and didn't really put much thinking into this (definitely didn't reread).

Yes, think about all your problems, I bet that 90% would be solved with money and the rest with money and time. ONCE YOU HAVE MONEY THAT MEANS YOU HAVE FREEDOM.
Everything I say is just a hypothetical.
