Yard Sale Score (Bow) #1
My father was at a yard sale today and he found a compound bow for $1.00 he got it and gave it to me.

It is a Bear White Tail Hunter 65lb draw 39"

Its actually in pretty damn good condition the only thing wrong with it is the string is bad as its starting to fray from not being waxed, other then that its a solid bow.

I guess its from the 70s because I cannot find any newer one like it.

But 65lb draw compound bow that only needs a string for $1.00 is insane this bow will easily take out deer when needed for hunting for food.

Yes I could shoot it right now if I wanted but I would risk breaking the string as its fraying. A new string is like $15.

There is no structural issues, stress marks, cracking, sun damage or anything.

How to restring a compound:

The Bear White Tail Hunter is a tear drop bow. It uses steel cables all the way to a tear drop which the string loops onto.

The method in the video will not work for re-stringing. Bows from the 70s and bows from now days are done differently. I don't even think tear drop bows are made anymore.

Then you'll either need to make a bow press, or go to Bass Pro or some other hunting store.

3 of my friends own compounds, and it gets them nothing but sick shots.

There is archery and firearm store 20 miles from me. I am going there on the 1st to pick up my rifle which I ordered anyway.

And you can buy bow presses too.

I do have another bow as well it's a Silverhawk XP which is a tear drop as well, its from the 80s from what I can tell.

making a bow press looks pretty easy and cheap, so why not go for the DIY approach?

and these teardrops sound like a pain in the ass.

I think they are actually the easiest in world of compound bows, idk that is something I would ask a professional.

But a bow string should last up to 4 years or so if you maintain it by waxing the string so if it is a pain in the ass in a good case scenario it should only be a pain in the ass ever 4 years or so.
