RE: Why teenagers should try staying secure online #21
there are many teenagers that doesn't know about internet security, they just posting their pictures, posting their address, posting all about them without knowing about problem that that caused by they act. so.. I think, we, as a hacker, need to teach them about internet security, about privacy, and about self-protecting in internet. :Thumbs-Up:

@Idyll, you're right. I really do wish that schools would teach it. They just say "don't post your address and email random people then you're A-Okay!", it's pathetic. I'm actually planning on making an information security presentation for one of my computer tech classes and even showing a live dox (made by me - it'll be a video) as I explain exactly what's happening. Luckily I've done enough of it to be confident with the thought of creating a pretty good dox in just 10 minutes.

As for your other post... Once I'm a parent and my kid is using the Internet, I'm going to teach him/her to always use fake names online and show them what could happen many times over at a young age. I probably wont ever read their private messages, but I'll most likely force them to have a fake last name on websites like Facebook, and make sure they never post any personal information publicly. Just stuff like that.

@CurlyPwn, sadly most modern-day parents don't know a single thing about being safe online so they wont be able to teach it to their youth. This includes teachers, if they don't take it seriously then their lessons are going to suck and not motivate anyone to do anything about their lack of privacy & security. The world's just too stupid, my friend.

@Anacreon, or AEON if that's what you prefer to be called - How do you figure? How can we, as hackers, teach them about this? The only thing that I can even think of is to dox them, send it to them through whatever social media account, say "You're my newest target" or something of that nature and fuck their life up by harassing them for the following few days and finish up by saying "This wouldn't happen if you had better privacy & info security" blah, blah, blah. You get what I mean.

I think, words "as hacker" prefer to a maker, system maker. we can teach the teenagers by creating some web pages, ads, programs or anything like that to help teenagers to learn more about security. and maybe we can help school or university to teach their student about security in internet.

I think another thing is peer pressure, Most teenagers want to be in a "COOL group". Which then forces them to do stupid crap. I'm not sure if this one was, But maybe since she was chatting with her friends and random people, She might have just tried looking good or cool infront of her mates.
