On topic,
-Linux is very fast, im using a 2008 pc, (Libreboot) Thinkpad , and its running faster than a modern-day pc.
-Linux is Open Source, you can change anything.
-Linux is more secure, thanks to the open source point. You can install Snort IDS, or make your own, to allow connections only you want.

Spoiler:
btw, this is 15 year old tech

2. So are BSD, MINIX, XNU (the kernel MacOS uses), and Darwin

3. More secure than windows, yes; more secure than BSD or XNU, not a chance.

Yes todays hardware can outclass 2008's,
For the price: $100 Thinkpad X200, runs Linux at the same speed my 1000$ gaming laptop(2015) ran windows 7.
You get more utility with the same resources with Linux.

I love Linux.

Find me an OS that Isn't.

Although I predominantly use Windows for average day-to-day navigation, It's not the case during exploitation.

Which distribution are you using? Also, I agree; I love Linux. I would use FreeBSD over Linux, but FreeBSD supports less hardware which is a significant disadvantage.

It's not like Linux will really allow you to do anything new with your computer. There are some new things you'll find you can do, depending on your distro, but they're mostly irrelevant. The main benefit of most Linux distros is that they are FREE. This means many things. It means the community (actual USERS of the distro) are working to maintain it and keep it up to date. It means you can find out exactly what's happening on your computer, and what each update is going to change. It means you don't have to ever worry about seeing advertisements in your operating system, or even paying for updates in the future.
Of course, you can always dual-boot like many users do, and this will give you the benefits of both operating systems.

So too Is every Windows OS I've owned since the 16 Bit Windows 3.1 back In the 90s. There's always a way to obtain a free OS.

I understand your point, though. Officially, they're free of cost.
