Why should I install Linux? - DragonicRek - 07-10-2018 Interested in other operating systems but don't know I'd do with linux or other OSs. (Currently use windows 10) RE: Why should I install Linux? - Vi-Sion - 07-10-2018 Yeah maybe start using linux as a virtual machine, then when you feel comfortable with it you could move to dual boot or replacing windows 10. RE: Why should I install Linux? - Percent - 07-10-2018 If you hate paying for an antivirus, love open source software, believe in privacy, want full control over your computer system, and want a better operating system for your daily tasks, you will love Linux. Linux can be very hard to switch over to at first, as it certainly isn't too similar to Windows in every single aspect. However, once you get used to it, you will love it, and would have wished that you switched to it earlier in life. The only downside to Linux is the fact that it might not support all hardware, and certainly does not support all Windows software that you know and love (especially video games). You can use a tool known as "Wine," or something else, to run Windows software on Linux, but this is not recommended as there is the potential for malware, alongside other things. However, if "Wine" works for you to run your Windows software, you may have problems with your hardware being supported, especially your graphics card. Many drivers for Linux are nowhere near as good as proprietary Windows drivers, and therefore, video games may run less efficiently on Linux (although this is not always the case). Linux is a great number of times better in today's world, and Linux will usually support all of your hardware, anyway. There is just always the small chance that your hardware may not be supported, but when it is supported, there may only be trashy drivers available for it. To shorten it up, Windows is better for video games, and Linux is better for everything else. Of course, however, that is just my opinion. RE: Why should I install Linux? - Cjone1700 - 07-12-2018 If your curious about linux you can always install it on a virtual machine or on a USB flash drive and boot the live versions instead of directly installing it. Thats what i do with Kali linux. I would recommend using that Linux OS to learn as it comes with many tools for pentesting, social engineering, Wifi cracking and more. https://www.kali.org/ RE: Why should I install Linux? - mothered - 07-12-2018 I'm going to suggest @"Ender" and @phyrrus9 to comment on this. They're both very proficient with Linux and will certainly be of help. RE: Why should I install Linux? - Skofos - 07-12-2018 Ini would like Linux to hack another User JK i don't like to use Linux as well. Kk shit post bored

(Currently use windows 10) If you've never used MacOS or interfaced with DOS, you're probably in for a rough road moving to linux. There are a few distributions that are user friendly (ubuntu, fedora, mint, etc) but I wouldn't ever recommend them with how stupid they've become. I'll tell you this, I've been using linux almost exclusively for 15 years and it still takes a couple weeks to get used to it again after I switch from having windows as a primary. The best way to do it is just to get rid of windows entirely and force yourself to learn how it works. It really comes down to your window manager. Things like gnome are going to be windows-like, KDE is as close as you'll get, but those aren't going to help you much. Fluxbox or Openbox will make you get used to it real quick. RE: Why should I install Linux? - Vultra - 07-12-2018 I personally use linux due to the functions it provides for development. Windows doesn't have that but, it depends on the aspect of it all. RE: Why should I install Linux? - Vultra - 07-12-2018 Coming from what Phyrrus is saying, Arch i3 is an alternative if you want to actually configure an entire Linux distro to your liking's. Here is my tutorial: https://sinister.ly/Thread-Tutorial-i3-ARCH-LINUX-INSTALLATION-TUTORIAL |
