My neighbor is 12-years-old. He and ALL of his friends live for anime. Although I enjoy this genre too, I don't understand exactly why he's so obsessed.

Hey dude, try watching Attack on Titan or Death Note with English Subs.

Anime is great because they can do stuff that wouldn't work in real life, story wise and plot wise because some "fantasy" aspects would require too much effort in a "real" show. I've recommended those animes because they are short, you'll get a huge kick out of them and you'll enjoy anime more. Just try the first episode and you'll get hooked!

I have never been interested in ninjas and such. I just somehow find it hard to watch. The art aspect of it is amazing. I could never draw like that.

I enjoy watching a lot of anime shows and movies because like andre said, there's a lot more possibilities that just wouldn't work as a live-action show. And some have some awesome stories and beautiful animation.

Let's look at it like this:

Many people like music, video games, and various different things. Why do they like it? Well, there's certain factors for that. If you like music, maybe you play an instrument, or it helps you get through tough times. As for gaming, maybe it passes the time quicker or something of that matter.

Anyways, I personally watch anime because it just feels right. It's just like watching a TV show you like. I hate to use the term, but just imagine you're watching 'cartoons'. I don't particularly like the term, but it's the best way to explain it.

It's basically a cartoon with storylines that are amazing. Some of the stories really are touching. Anime is basically a hobby for me.
