This Is a hard, If not Impossible question to answer- definitively.

As to why we dream, I've often wondered (and still do) the exact same thing. In my views, I think our subconscious and Inadvertent thoughts play some sort of role In generating dreams to some degree. I'd love to read what other members have to say.

Purely Scientific: When you sleep there are several stages of sleep, primarily based on brainwave frequency. The primary two are REM (Rapid-Eye-Movement) Sleep and Deep Dreamless sleep. Your brain enters REM sleep which wakes it up to a certain degree and the massive influx of random visual data triggers the receptors in your mind responsible for forming patterns. These patterns are influenced by your subconscious mind and psyche to create dreams.

Spiritual: I think that the dream is a part of your body which materializes a world based on activities happening in your day to day life, forming an alternate you. This could be because of the human body desiring to connect with higher planes, and is wishing to ascend. These dreams can be influenced by affirmations during the day/reality checks and through such, give you conscious thought to proceed with your dream. This can lead to all sorts of amazing things from OOBEs to Solving Real Life problems, all because your body wants to be ascended and enlightened.

These could be completely wrong, or they could be mankind's greatest answer. Who knows, I am just a person.

science doesn't like the word random lol

IMO, dreaming is a way for our brains to process raw data. It may be data from earlier that day or various things on our mind but I believe that our brains are very strong computers. There has been extensive research done on dreaming especially lucid dreaming and you might be interested to know that it has been proven to be possible to communicate with others outside of your dream while you're dreaming; we have separate consciousness pathways while dreaming. It's some trippy shit. I will post links if anyone is interested. I also find it ironic that dreams play a role in every religion I can think of including "magic-based religions" like chaos magic.

They could 100% be wrong, just because they say something & apply it 2 children at school etc.

Doesn't mean it's entirely correct.

This is just a feeling, or I just like the sound of it nothing else, but I have a feeling it has something to do with the life as a simulation scenario. As in our consciousness isn't really "here" and when we dream its a glimpse/brains interpretation of something else. There are obviously more scientific interpretations, but I think about this question and ones like it too much I think lol.

It's a release of N,N-Dimethyltriptamine (DMT) in the brain.

Is it though? I agree that DMT is released in the brain, but I think DMT is released more when in lucid dreams. When entering a lucid dream or the astral you are conscious so you mustn't be under a DMT influence as that would cause a guaranteed obscure dream. The simplicity of many peoples dreams (especially those lucid) makes me think it is something else.

Although, DMT is certainly released in small amounts thus waking your brain.

(These ideas are solely reflection and are not claimed as true by me.)
