I've had really good experiences with nvidia gfx cards so far (all second hand as well) and had horrendous experiences with AMD cards. Again, my experience is limited.

I agree with SSDs, and also Ram/memory.
I've been using Kingston Ram for more than a decade, and no complaints whatsoever.
It's good to hear more about these, since I wouldn't know the first thing. I definitely value durability and it seems you do too. I'll have to keep Kingston in mind in future. Are they particularly expensive or mid-range pricing?
They are a little more expensive than their counterparts, but nothing significant.
For peace of mind, It's well worth paying a few extra dollars, namely because Kingston has a lifetime warranty on Ram, Flash memory cards, SD cards and a few others.
