Fraps, and Dxtory probably, there both great for recording gaming, and simple videos, I highly recommend it.

I personally suggest BandiCam.

I suggest http://mirillis.com/en/products/action.html .
Its 50$ (If you want to buy it) but its really nice. You can try a trail at there site.

Disappointed at the people who recommended Bandicam after what the OP wrote.

Thanks a ton for the suggestion I haven't even seen the Mirillis website! Looks like I've got a plan to test it's trial and see how it goes for me. I appreciate it, huge help. $50 also isn't too expensive so if I decide the trial delivered exactly what I need I'll look further into ownership.

Yeah is a pretty nice recorder. I think it has less final movie file size than fraps too. Also lets you stream to twitch and other broadcasting sites.

Fraps, Action!, Open Broadcasting Software.

They all worked pretty well for me.
