Didn't know that Windows phone could be unlocked, what kind you advantages / disadvantages is there to unlocking your Win8 phone ?

Being able to sideload apps without the use of the marketplace (developer accounts can do this without custom ROMs, but they're relatively hard to obtain compared to flashing your device), access to the registry which allows me to bypass carrier limits on data (I have unlimited, but they do a bandwidth cap after 5GB), and theming your phone right on your phone, among other things.

It's not necessary, but it's much more convenient to be able to load a developer's .xap file to test out their program than waiting (and possibly being denied) for Microsoft to put it on the marketplace.

I have got an iPhone 5 and Nokia Lumia 900. I'm satisfied with both of them. None of them is Android.
