Mine is Java maybe that's because it's my first and only language so far .
But the syntax of C# looked very similar to java to me when i saw someone using it.

Everyone should learn how to code, it teaches you how to think.

You don't have to be a Genius to know how to code you just need to be determined.

The computer is incredibly fast, accurate, and stupid; man is unbelievably slow, inaccurate, and brilliant; together they are powerful beyond imagination.

I deal with back-end/server-side exploitation on a daily basis, so PHP Is Imperative, so too Is being proficient In SQL (querying and manipulating databases).

Python (Very practical and easy to use)
Shell (Useful in the Android world)
Ruby (First I ever learned, easy to use)
Java (eh, cleanish syntax. Not a huge fan of the JRE though)

I need to brush up on all of them as I haven't touched any language in ages but thats that.

1. Python:
Generally good for everything to run on a server or desktop, and with recent advances it now makes pretty nice Windows GUI applications as well, which is good, because I truly loath having to use Virtual Studio.
2. PHP:
Great for sites that you can dump on a cheap shared host as it will always be supported anywhere, and versatile enough you can use it for Resful API to communicate with your apps.
3. VBA:
Did anyone see that coming? Smile It's the built-in MS Office scripting language, more like ASP than C++ really. You can build your code into an Excel or Access application, and it just gets sucked into the corporate office environment and no one ever looks twice at it. I've had some old scripts embedded in Access applications that are still calling home after years of deployment. Access can also be used as a Client for SQL server, so there is some behind-the-firewall LAN fun to be had as well.
4. Javascript:
Many JS/EMCA has come a long way. No everyone has to use it as most sites depend on it, and environments like Electron are pushing out desktop applications using basically JS/CSS.
5. HTML5/CSS3:
Because you just need it.

But otherwise everyone should know SQL, and in my opinion, Basic TCP/IP, and Shell Scripting as well. So much to learn, and that's the tip of the iceberg really.

I work mostly with back-ends so my favorite by far right now is Golang. Aside from that I really enjoy Lua as a scripting language.

Reasons I like Go (especially for back-end):
  • It has very clean syntax.
  • Binaries are natively compiled.
  • The compiler has very fast build times.
  • Open source, you can easily add functionality to the compiler for your own uses.
  • Interop with C is amazingly easy, you can even have Go, C and ASM in the same source file.

Also a few things I dislike (because nothing is perfect)
  • The binaries are huge. (though they don't grow very fast after the initial 5-ish MiB).
  • Very poor support for DLLs which are sometimes required and/or very useful.

I'm also going to mention that I absolutely HATE JavaScript.

Absolutely.

If you have the time, take the SQL test In this thread. It's very basic (I don't know why they've made It so simple), so not doubt you'll nail It.

C and x86 Intel assembly because I'm elitist...

and also because it's pretty much 99% of what I use to develop tools.
