What makes a forum good? #1
Hi all,

Having a forum and maintaining can be hard.
You have these multiple things what could make your forum be 'good'.
i.e; UX, Content, Page speed, Member quality, Staff quality, forum features

I want to start a discussion on what makes you want to be in a forum.
What is it that you care about? Do you care about the amount of posts?
Do you simply want to join in discussions like these? Or do you feel like
just reading and reading?

Feel free to open your mind, after all they are all opinions.

Kind regards,

For me it's a combination of things such as the members (if the memebers are friendly and HQ it makes a forum infinately more useful) content is important too, why sign up to a forum that has nothng that interests you? Page speed isn't really a issue for me though so long as it doesn't take forever to load a page.

Its all about member quality, members including Staff. Because WE make the forum a 'good' forum.

Imagine all members are active and helpful. Things would be good. :Thumbs-Up:

Staff will never ever ask you for your personal information.
We know everything about you anyway.

It is mainly the community (which is not that good atm), the quality of posts (I don't want to read so much useless stuff), the topics, the ease of handling the forums and changing settings and the possibilities expressing yourself and your opinions (like: avatar, thanks button, signature, profile, ...).
It is not the amount of posts.
It is not the amount of members.

I would go to the quality of posts, how active the members are and the community/family feeling at the forum which is dependent on the love and willingnes of the members to help out. Aside from all that tech stuff, a forum is amazing if we can chill out n crack some jokes even at the staff with no fear of being smited.

I would go with the members of the forum and the content. This one right here has both. Up until now, I haven't been very active as far as posting is concerned(I plan on changing that soon) but I drop in on a daily basis to read the threads and I must say I quite like it. Also, I think the staff is doing a very good job.
