I think schools should be teaching us stuff we actually need to know instead of learning to calculate the mass of the sun. And how many apples john will have after he drops four. Schools should be teaching us how to handle ourselves in the real world.

School is a service that provides so many different things other than education, but people normally under the age of 18 take this service for granted.

The idea of school is okay, but the force you learn the stupid shit that you don't need. They should teach you real life skills and other shit. Like do i really need to read Hamlet and take an essay on it to advance in my life? No.

school is not about learning facts. it's about learning to work for something - even something you don't care about.

It is convenience. School is convenient for letting the children socialize, i.e. interact with other human beings who are not their mother and father. I will certainly agree that most of the things that they force the children to learn are useless, but what do they do alongside the learning? They make friends, they shape their own identities, they may even discover their own interests and dreams.
Personally, it is a place to create memories and build connections. Societally, it is useful as a human sieve to cut down the student number because well-paying jobs are limited. It is useful, but thinking that success in school would secure one's life is naive; and conversely, thinking that failure in school would doom one's life is tragic.
School is not the only path; sadly, that is what most parents refuse to consider.

I hated school. I didn't really start enjoying life until I left.

I personally think school gets interesting when you get beyond secondary high, when you actually can choose yourself what you want to do with your life. Before that, all is just basic knowledge everyone needs.
