His usage patterns were roughly the same and there wasn't any significant variance in IPs/access leading up to his disappearance. In addition, his password hash is the same as it was 2 years ago.
He's not banned. I demoted him after he was gone for 1-2 months. The same has applied to previous staff too.

Not likely - @mothered didn't act within a group, he did everything through trusted corners of the web and dark net, so we can't assume he is in any hacking group. I can however speculate that he has retired. A vacation would have been as simple as pausing the domain, but it's up for sale, which leads one to believe he has dropped it or not renewed the domains. Both domains being down means it was deliberate, or he was forced to shut them down. It's really not like him to be gone out of nowhere. Hopefully all is well. It's also possible that he has given up the gauntlet; someone else to take his "spot" in the Social Engineer leadership, which he has held for some time.
