If anyone was curious, I did a fair amount of looking and have yet to find any signs
of anything foul. I haven't seen any news articles or press releases that made me think of him, either.

His usage patterns were roughly the same and there wasn't any significant variance in IPs/access leading up to his disappearance. In addition, his password hash is the same as it was 2 years ago.


He's not banned. I demoted him after he was gone for 1-2 months. The same has applied to previous staff too.

Not likely - @mothered didn't act within a group, he did everything through trusted corners of the web and dark net, so we can't assume he is in any hacking group. I can however speculate that he has retired. A vacation would have been as simple as pausing the domain, but it's up for sale, which leads one to believe he has dropped it or not renewed the domains. Both domains being down means it was deliberate, or he was forced to shut them down. It's really not like him to be gone out of nowhere. Hopefully all is well. It's also possible that he has given up the gauntlet; someone else to take his "spot" in the Social Engineer leadership, which he has held for some time.

but he was one of best in SE. Maybe he was part of it tough he never said. anyway timeline matches with it.

If he was in a group, I was not privy to that information. I don't think that's the case. I'd like to think he'd give me some sort of notice if he wanted to quit silently. I'd respect his wishes. No notice was given, which is why I would assume he has very intentionally disappeared or is indisposed. Leaving one day before the site's birthday is awfully coincidental. Either way, it's unlikely we'll get any closure on this.

Some TG groups closed access at the same time as he left. It's possible that it has something to do with it

The only situations I am aware of involve ARG and REKK. Neither group used this site. He was very wise, so I cannot see him being involved with groups like that.

I recall mothered writing helpful posts and replies to anyone who really needed it.

Reading through this forum though really does inspire a cool film of a old and wise SE'er eventually pulling the plug and retiring in a remote location.

I didn't get to see much of him. I've been a long time lurker here. Rarley ever log in to my account and opt to view post anon. I was honestly hoping for the best but now it seems. Idk. I'll poke around on h@ck_forums and see if they have anything there. It really is a shame to see a great legend fall like this.

Staff member and good friend. He disappeared last August. It was originally suggested he retired, died, or was arrested.

No evidence to support anything yet. Hurts to be left without answers, but that's the way it goes (especially with his opsec).
