Is there a key or something i can refer to? Are they auto assigned or manually ?

Crown means Administrator.
Shield means Moderator.
Lightning bolt means Top Poster
Diamond means Diamond.

Top Posters is updated real time, with the exception of caching delays. It doesn't go by calendar months, but by the past 30 days (i.e. since December 10th).
