We should have an AF-exclusive IRC server

I don't know if you've noticed it lately, but skype is getting EXTREMELY unreliable. There's messages getting delivered anywhere from 15 minnutes to 2 hours late, killing conversation. On the flip side, IRC chat's happen immediately, extremely reliable, and removing the problem of assholes from using some sort of "fork" program and pissing people off.

So what do ya say?

Yeah it could be a good idea but think of it... People are using Skype for communicating daily it's on their startup(most people) and a lot of people don't.

If AF members will use the IRC constantly to communicate it'd be a good idea, yeah.

So there's a minus and a plus.

I dont want to deal with the pain of trying the need to download an irc and step up junk when I have skype right here.

So you're absolutely fine with having your IP exposed to the world with a protocol that doesn't even guarantee your messages reach another person?

IRC is no better. I can get anyone IP in a IRC chat and if your internet sucks, IRC wont fix that. Besides who cares if someone has your IP. I will support this only if you'll pay for the IRC server.

Well unlike many my Ip is special so I dont have to worry about mine much.

INST1NCT hit the nail on the head. In the past we've generally used MSN/Skype because people have it set to run on start-up. With an IRC, people may forget to join, or won't have it running at start-up. This is why we're using Skype currently. In the future I may set up an IRC, provided there is more activity. Right now we'll stick to Skype, so that everybody is contactable.
