Today someone from SC was road raging. Swerving, speeding, the works, and of course, no police in sight.

When I tried to get away from this obvious lunatic, he cut me off, got out of his car, and threatened to cut me. Waved this knife around like he was all big and bad.

I have his license plate number, as well as his VIN. It's all been reported to the state patrol, but you know how lazy they can be.

I'm wondering if there's any way to find out his other details. I don't want to hurt him, just warn others and see if he's pulled this kind of shit before. I know I can buy reports from places like CarFax, but I'm not down with spending 50 bucks for something if there's a workaround.

Any advice? This one's unusual, I realize.

If I'm not mistaken, don't vin numbers just give you information about the vehicle? Like make/model/year and other info. They don't give you the owner's information.

That's what I've noticed from all the online sources. There is a way to find the owner, but that's normally privy only to private investigators and the police.

I thought there was a workaround, but I suppose not.

If he was waving a knife around how did you get out and get to his car to read and write down his vin?

You can easily look up a vin with google. wont tell you much unless you pay or can find a work around.
