Using admin account opens the door for viruses? #1
Since my school doesn't know how to teach how to use computers, they made us non-admin users on our PCs. Since there was a lot of sh*t pre-installed and I wanted to remove them, I changed the admin account password and, since then, use it as my main account (I've even upgraded to Win10 with it [emoji12])

However, yesterday, I've got caught by the tech girl (because a friend broke my keyboard) and they've told me that by using the admin account, I open the door to malicious people to put viruses on all the school's computers, but I have huge doubts on that.

I'd just like to know if using the admin account can really have such high impact.
Thanks

Windows right? Are you refering to and Admin account, or the System Account? The system account maybe, but an admin account probably not.

I'm assuming every kid was issued a computer w/ windows on it and the school also has it's own network/computers for in-school use.

IMO using windows for the school network is a bad move in the first place, but considering my experience with the IT team when I was in HighSchool, I'm not surprised.

Being an Admin on your own computer shouldn't really be much of an issue as long as you use common sense. Theoretically you could probably cause some harm to the network && IT is either too lazy or doesn't give a shit enough/know enough to implement other safegaurds to make sure that doesn't happen. If they really wanted a secure network they'd use Linux for their main network computers and Windows only for students & faculty.

If I were you i'd hide the admin priviledge from anyone who might rat you out, bc fuck having a computer I can't even install my own software on w/o some outside geezer's approval.

Haha! The principal told me that if I get caught doing this one more time, I'd be ejected from the program (which most people got in for the computer btw). The tech girl also told me that she is only the executor and all decisions are made by the principal.

Wtf principal, why are you doing this? Oh yeah, as you told us when you removed our admin rights: so that the tech people have less things to do...

I only "hacked" into the local admin, unlike some people that went nuts and changed the school admin password (and got spotted is 5 secs)

There is some wisdom to not giving users admin rights. You never allow average joe more privlages than he needs. It might not stop malware, but it prevents joe blow from making changes he shouldnt. You have to remember that you are the exception, and most users are fuckibg stupid.

Part of my point is that they should teach those Joe Blow how to use computers instead of punishing everyone else for their mistakes.

In a perfect world that would be great, but not possible. Unfortunately, there are alot of people who just dont get it. They never will. Ive seen users who are so incureably stupid I question how the remember to breathe.

And I guess it would be to hard to remove the admin rights only to those people.
