What's FLAC and How to play it on your iDevices #1
Hello all I will be teaching you how to play FLAC format songs on your Iphone, Ipod and Ipad.

FLAC format is a music format that is lossless and it plays the songs with perfect quality. Not like MP3 that is compressed and Lossy also very limited.

Example of the same songs

Here you see MP3:

You can see the space they occupy and they are all Maximum MP3 quality.

Now let's see FLAC:

As you can see I haven't had the time to write the names of the songs perfectly XD also that the size of the songs increase dramatically but so does the quality.

Now compare the bitrate between MP3 and FLAC.

The quality is incredibly different.

Now to the tutorial.

You will need the app called

FLAC Player (Works the best) (You can get it for $9.99 on the APP store or if you have a jailbroken iDevice you can install it free)

OR!

FLAC player+ (This one is free but you can't browse songs while you are playing music.)

For a jailbroken iDevice you need:

vShare (Replacement for Installous) To get that App you need the source : repocydia.com

Once you install it go to the search bar and look for FLAC player and download and install it.

For non jailbroken iDevices just buy it.

Once you have the app make sure you have FLAC format songs. You can get them by torrents.

After you have both the songs you desire and the App.

Go to Itunes.

On Itunes go you your device.

Once you are on your device got to apps

Scroll down and you will find FLAC Player.

There click on FLAC Player and you will notice it's empty.

Next step is to drag and drop your desired songs (Keep in mind they take a lot of space so be sure to have enough)

I dragged and dropped my two favorite albums of T.I. now I can play them on my ipod.

Enjoy.

Sorry to bring this up I'd just wanted other people to see this if they are looking for best quality beyond the compressed MP3 format. I, myself use FLAC for laptop playback and on my portable Cowon J3 player. For those who have other devices this would be a great start for you to be able to play this kind of audio format.

I always wondered what .flac files play at. Good .mp3s tend to play at 320kb/s.

Most are above a thousand kbps hence the big file size. When compressed to the likes of Mp3, it goes down to 320kbps and below depending on the preferred bit rate (CBR/VBR).

This is a good read regarding the subject matter if everyone wants to learn more.

I don't have an iDevice but great tutorial I guess.
I always download FLAC versions from TPB or something and totally recommend it.
