Sleek Signature. #1
Dear AF,
Thanks for viewing my tutorial, in this guide I'll be showing you how to make a signature similar to the one below:

1) First things first, we're going to do a basic thing of creating a new file. The size should be 500x150 pixels.
Once you've finished that step, you're going to fill the file with any background color.
(The color doesn't matter at all - it can be any color)

2) Now, you'll need to find an image of a space or a universe.
You can find one on wallbase.cc by searching for universe (or space).
However, if you are too lazy to do that, you can download a universe gallery from here.

3) So, when you have the background of your space / universe that you are going to use, drag it into photoshop under your main layer.

4) Great, now right click on the image that you have dragged into PS, and choose “Create Clipping Mask” after that you want to select both layers and click 'Merge Layers'.

5) Great job! Now, it’s time to add some text to our signature. But before we get onto that, we'll change the color of it. To change color of it, first create a new layer. After a new layer has been created you'll want to fill it with the color you want to use, we'll use a light blue for this tutorial. Once you’ve done that, you want to change layer style from Normal to Darken / or Hue, whatever floats your boat.

6) Good job! There are only just a few more things we've got to do. Place your text wherever you want and double click on text layer, to open Blending Tools. Keep the blend mode on Normal and put the Opacity to about %75 and the size to %7. Click here for an example.

7) Now select all of the layers and then merge them (select them all, right click 'merge layers'). After that, you will have to go to Image > Canvas Size and put 600x200 pixels and press OK. Click here for an example.

8) This bit can be a little confusing so here's a video on how to do it:

NOTE: Opacity can be 50%, or 75%. I personally used 75% in the video, however I strongly recommend 50%. Also, you can remove the shadow from the top of it, if you would like to. Here is a video how to do that as well.

Thank-you for reading this tutorial - I'd love to see what you made from it!
Feel free to post any results down below.

Haha - it's not a hard thing to learn, and once you do learn it - it's quite fun. Can also definitely help you in the future if you ever are suddenly interested in becoming something to do with graphic design, start now while you're young! A creative designer can make up to £65,000 a year. I heard Worcester is the top-paying location for graphic designers.

Oops - meant to put as unlisted not private. Should be working now, let me know if it doesn't. Thanks for the heads up.

It's true. It requires little time and can definitely open up some big opportunities for you. It's also a great skill to have.

Nice tutorial Smile, designing with Photoshop is something I've been meaning to try and learn for... years lol, but never really got started on it. I had a go a little earlier though and came out with the signature I'm currently using (with my driver from Gran Turismo 5 in it), it's a bit sloppy in some places but it's not too bad for a complete noob is it? Have to say it was fun just playing around and seeing what I came up with (which wasn't really much but it's something xD).

I was never a good person at photoshopping, therefore I am unable to claim my below signature to be mine Sad Nice tut though! Keep it up!
