The best free RAT right now is probably going to be Quasar. All of the cracked ones at the moment are infected. And all of the old ones are outdated. And by the way, Metasploit and Meterpreter are vulnerability scanners, not RATs.

Thanks for clearing this out. I am not savvy on this, still learning.
Anyway, the meterpreter works as a RAT, you hear for computers that you got infected and they are constantly trying to connect to your meterpreter session. So I think it was technically used as a RAT.
