Thanks for all your info on China, I once did IRL business with a woman from China. She said the same thing about China not being uncivilized. She honestly seemed to want to go back.

I Agree with her, some parts might be uncivilised, but that is the case in every country(or union). In fact, in cities like Paris, some parts of the cities itself is uncivilised.

I would understand her wanting to go back, in all honesty, I would want to aswell, if only the laws were a little less strict.

How is that social credit score going? I wouldn't mind some insight from a person that auctually lived in China rather than reading news propaganda from corporate media sponsored sources.

I Do not live in china, so I wouldn't have the first person feel of it, but I have many friends that are still in there.
Currently, it is not fully rolled out yet, everyone starts at 600, but you will lose scores. Some of my friends are currently coasting at about 550, and it is available to check online. For example, if you cross a light when it is red, you lose 1 point, if you spit gum on the floor, you lose 1 point. But if you do not have and penalties for a while, you will gain some points(I am not too sure about the exact details)

Currently the points are just a number, with not much use to it, but they will limit the ability to use some services later on in time. As long as you are a good citizen, i.e. only get approx 5 points deducted per month, you will not be affected.

It was a day trip from Hong Kong.
I did not have a to-do list before I went there, as I had a bad impression of China before I went, I saw it as a challenge, but turned out, I was just ignorant.

With that said, I did go to sea world and Huaqiang road, the two spots with 5G installed. Sea world is not what the name suggests, it is not an aquatic theme park, instead it is an area close to the sea.( Chinese place names are creative).

I did see some quirky things in Huaqiang road, arguably the high street of Shenzhen. The most memorable was definitely a 5G connected fridge. It detects it's contents and generates recipes using AI, it has automatic door closing function after a time out( or you can close it on the app and via voice assistant in case you realized you forgot to close it but was too lazy)
It has a 15inch touch screen, one of the features is showing a camera of its contents and a list of detected food by the camera.( so you don't waste energy by having to open it to check). A message board function and a pen, in case you need to write something down, a web browser to search for recipes, and a bilibili player(Chinese equivalent of YouTube). There are many cool features, just too many to list.
You might argue they are useless and are just gimmicks, but hands-on, you will find them quite useful.

Other quirky things include a tea-table on wheels, which responds to voice; a projector system on rail so you can face the right direction to prevent sunrays from affecting the screen. Etc.

Yes they do, and not only are there cameras on about every 100 meters on the street, they also have it in cars etc. All electric cars are required to send information, in fact, I have made a thread previously about it. https://sinister.ly/Thread-Challenge-SQL...is-website

My friends visit China every year for work. They are animators. And they always bring me Chinese tea. One day I will fly to China.

Chinese tea is one of the most authentic Chinese souvenirs.

After the CoViD-19 pandemic, I recommend you come to China. It will seem like you've been to another world, and it will be an eye-opening experience. I also recommend you to be counter-intuitive, and not to visit the capital. Go to Shanghai or Guangzhou etc. instead. If you are feeling adventurous, it will be very beneficial to you if you go to the less developed parts of china, but you really need someone local to take you to those cities, e.g. zhangjiajie (although that is a bit close to Wuhan), or most small towns will do, e.g. Xiamen.

I can definitely say the same for The United States. The capital probably isn't the most entertaining place for a traveler. If you want to go somewhere fun, you should go to Las Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, or New York.
