Trip to China. - sharing my experience - Johnngnky - 10-28-2019 Hello! As you might know about me, I'm Chinese, but with that said, I haven't been to back to China for almost an year. Here's some experience I would like to share about my trip to China yesterday I've went to china from Hong Kong, luckily I live next to the Hong Kong metro line that connects to the Shenzhen metro. I went to the Lok Ma Chau port (the less popular one due to awkward location- that means that I don't have to queue as long.) There is an in-station interchange, both termini of the East Rail line(HK) and line 4 (SZ) termiates in this station. I had to pass immigration, walk over the Shenzhen bay river, and pass the Chinese immigration. All of which on the same station complex, built over the water. View of the building After that, I took the metro to Huaqiang north station, which is 5G installed. I got to see the extreme download speed of 5G networking on an array of new phones. https://prnt.sc/pp2923 Exit A of the Huaqiang North metro station. https://prnt.sc/pp29nr 5G speed test. Not only was I lent the Vivo nex to test it's photography and 5G, I also saw the new social credit system testing, which can detect who anyone is, on the street, even tourists, even without looking directly at the face. https://prnt.sc/pp2ajo The cameras installed on a pedestrian crossing on Huaqiang Road. With all those said, it is still quite restricted, I wasn't allowed Snapchat, Instagram, Google maps, Facebook etc. (Luckily I speak fluent Chinese.) Which, in my opinion, is will limit its potential, still, it was a fun experience. And I was surprised I am still allowed in, even though I'm from Hong Kong, considering what is happening now. That is it for the report, and ask me anything if you want to know about the development of China. RE: Trip to China. - sharing my experience - Kludge - 11-04-2019 Got any information at all on a company called Yifang Electronics? Or information on Shenzhen province? RE: Trip to China. - sharing my experience - mothered - 11-05-2019 Thread moved from the Mobile & Tablets forum to The Lounge. What a wonderful experience. How long was your stay, and was It enough to do everything on your list? RE: Trip to China. - sharing my experience - piyelir - 11-05-2019 Wow, that's great. I hope I'll go to China too when I have enough money for that. I am waiting for the opening of this blog about fast money making and I think it may help. Agree? RE: Trip to China. - sharing my experience - Botany - 11-09-2019 Sounds exciting, I read China will pay US citizens to become Chinese citizens and teach English living in China?. Obviously, as a Hong-konger, Shenzhen City is the most familiar to me( note that Shenzhen is a city in the Guangdong province, provinces are like states in the US, or countries in the EU.) I haven't personally heard of YiFang Electronics, but quick research shows that it is a company that specializes in PCB. There are many technological startups in the Shenzhen, Guanzhou&Fushan, and zhuhai cities. This is because of low taxes in the Guangdong province. Similarly, many big technology companies are situated in the Shanghai&Hangzhou area. For example, Alibaba, the company which Amazon got it's product inspiration from( e.g. Amazon go). Alibaba has 3 of the most used online shopping sites in China(and the world to an extent), taobao, tmall, and AliExpress. Shenzhen is a typical Chinese city, it has road layouts like the US in the town centre, and like Europe in the outskirts ( coincidentally, the ditea(metro) is called on the signs are "subway" in closer to the centre, and called "metro/underground" in the outskirts.) On this note, the Shenzhen metro is a very pleasurable metro system, as a Hong konger, I think the Hong Kong metro should be ashamed. The two systems are interconnected, but require passing through customs. And paying another company for the fares. As soon as you reach the Shenzhen side, you will notice the fares are about 5 times cheaper. I still remember the first time I took the London tube, being shocked by the price. A similar distance journey on the tube which costs about £2.9, costs vaguely £0.55 in Hong Kong, and £0.2 in Shenzhen. The metro also gives a sense of security, as every entrance to the metro requires to pass through security, not to mention the social credit system, partially in place now. Shenzhen/China is a different world altogether, you could feel the difference being in a Chinese city and one with western influence. Even a stall selling sugarcane juice, on the rural streets accept alipay & wechatpay( 2 most famous P2P payment systems) The Chinese people's English levels are actually quite high, although not enough to write manuals without error, I have been in a Vivo showroom, where they greeted me in English😂. On that note, the Vivo showroom in sea world, is not a traditional phone showroom you would expect, instead, as soon as you enter, you are given a phone, in which you can do anything on, many people downloading games and playing it, testing the cool features etc. You are even allowed to just borrow any equipment they have(laptops, earphones, chargers etc.), as long as you return it before you leave, where they reset the phone and steralize it ready for the next user. I was concerned about not having access to the internet there, but it used this to plan my way back.( Just install a map app on the phone and use it like any other, they have e-sims connected to it on 5G) That was an unforgettable journey, albeit short, but it has changed my perspective to my home country, after living in Britain for so long. If you think china is uncivilised, think again, in my opinion, it is cleaner, safer, and more friendly than Britain. Edit: my comment about 5x cheaper included the port fare, it is £2 to go from the town centre to the port in Hong Kong, but £0.4 in shenzhen . RE: Trip to China. - sharing my experience - SCARIO - 11-09-2019 Go to Syria. ther is more beautiful. RE: Trip to China. - sharing my experience - Botany - 11-09-2019 Thanks for all your info on China, I once did IRL business with a woman from China. She said the same thing about China not being uncivilized. She honestly seemed to want to go back. It was a day trip from Hong Kong. I did not have a to-do list before I went there, as I had a bad impression of China before I went, I saw it as a challenge, but turned out, I was just ignorant. With that said, I did go to sea world and Huaqiang road, the two spots with 5G installed. Sea world is not what the name suggests, it is not an aquatic theme park, instead it is an area close to the sea.( Chinese place names are creative). I did see some quirky things in Huaqiang road, arguably the high street of Shenzhen. The most memorable was definitely a 5G connected fridge. It detects it's contents and generates recipes using AI, it has automatic door closing function after a time out( or you can close it on the app and via voice assistant in case you realized you forgot to close it but was too lazy) It has a 15inch touch screen, one of the features is showing a camera of its contents and a list of detected food by the camera.( so you don't waste energy by having to open it to check). A message board function and a pen, in case you need to write something down, a web browser to search for recipes, and a bilibili player(Chinese equivalent of YouTube). There are many cool features, just too many to list. You might argue they are useless and are just gimmicks, but hands-on, you will find them quite useful. Other quirky things include a tea-table on wheels, which responds to voice; a projector system on rail so you can face the right direction to prevent sunrays from affecting the screen. Etc. In fact, in cities like Paris, some parts of the cities itself is uncivilised. I would understand her wanting to go back, in all honesty, I would want to aswell, if only the laws were a little less strict. |
