It's often the outcasts, the iconoclasts ... those who have the least to lose because they
don't have much in the first place, who feel the new currents and ride them the farthest.

The Beatles first single is released in the UK.
Beatles aren't my taste in music, but there is no denying how they revolutionized music as a whole.

October 8th, 2001 - U.S. President George W. Bush announces the establishment of the Office of Homeland Security.
October 8th, 314 - Roman Emperor Licinius is defeated by his colleague Constantine I at the Battle of Cibalae, and loses his European territories.
October 8th, 1918 – World War I: In the Argonne Forest in France, United States Corporal Alvin C. York kills 28 German soldiers and captures 132, for which he is awarded the Medal of Honor.
That's humbling to think about: 97 years ago exactly from today, soldiers were fighting on a cold cruel battlefield, facing death... some of which for my freedom... while I sit at my computer inside a warm house with all the modern conveniences. *salute*

I love how the article says:
Quote:The car, meanwhile, sold for $10,000 to Lang’s Fossils and Meteorites in Cranford, New Jersey.I bet she was thinking: OH NO, MY CAR IS RUINED.
And then she gets paid $10k + money from the meteorite.
