Then and Now: Victoria Falls #1
I found this article pretty interesting. It's talking about climate change and drought occurring at Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, and they shared some images that compare how it looked in January 2019, to how it looked in December 2019:

After

Isn't it amazing how different it looks within a year?

That's a significant difference.

I didn't think It would be possible In the space of a year.

It's insane isn't it? According to the article, it seems the locals have suffered badly because of it. The income from tourism dropped, and that was before the pandemic.

Interesting ! Although, let's not jump too quickly to conclusions.
As explained pretty clearly in this article :
Quote:[...] climate science deals in decades, not particular years, "so it's sometimes difficult to say this is because of climate change because droughts have always occurred".

"If they become more frequent, then you can start saying, OK, this may be climate change," he added.

He said early climate models had predicted more frequent dry years in the Zambezi basin, but that "what was surprising was that [drought] has been so frequent" — the last drought was only three years ago.
One drought doesn't prove much, it's how frequently they are that we have to watch (I couldn't find any official rapport about that).
By the way that's funny how this news from 2.5 year ago comes back in lots of media Sarcasm

Of course. All of what you said is true. I suspect they're claiming it's climate change based on data comparison with previous years, as this was apparently the worst drought they had experienced in a century.

I did find it strange that a headline from 2019 was making another appearance, but I mostly wanted to share it because the pictures were pretty epic. Have you ever seen the photos from when the waterflow to Niagara Falls was redirected, so they could clean the rocky areas around the falls? It's amazing to look at.

Yeah the images are quite impressive ! Plus lots of friends went there, and took some epic picture in the "devil pools" up the falls, there is even a real bathtub on the side haha. Good reminder to carefully chose the season to visit xD

Worst water flow since 1995 for the falls, not worst drought in that location. Which is weird, you'd think that would tie up hand in hand wouldn't you?

Oh that's so awesome! What a cool trip! Great advice on the season lol. I recall watching a comedian on TV discussing their experience visiting Niagara falls, and they commented on how their photos just looked like any random tourist in a rain mac. "It could have been anybody in that photo!" Lol
