Come on now Specialist, me and you both know that Sony and Microsoft have ALWAYS made their systems the size of a laptop! Why would they start trying to go smaller? That's about the right size for all the stuff they put into their consoles.

BUT!, The Steam Box might have less things in it, since you dont really need a Disc Drive and a HDD when it stores memory in a INTERNAL chip and then you're playing games that are downloaded onto the chip

That is a true point, they wont have a disk drive/blu ray drive, so that means less room, but they are rumoured to be using a 1TB HDD, which will be pretty expensive if it's a 2.5" SATA which it most likely will be. Also, if they manage to get the PS4/Xbox/Steambox around the same size as the Wii, then that would be amazing to be honest.
