So China decided to try and shutdown communications for people living in Hong Kong..? I don't quite understand this whole situation. I'll just read the article. I did see the protests in Hong Kong though. I don't think I've ever seen a larger one in my life.

I've read estimates of 1 million people.

The protests were over PRC's new law that allows for extradition for residents of Hong Kong. I say residents because, if I read correctly, even non-Chinese residents of Hong Kong are open for extradition.

International businesses with a presence in Hong Kong are even feeling anxiety. It's not a good situation.

Yeah I'm aware. It's really a baseless law. PRC is no place for people, nor is it a republic...

China tries very hard to quell any dissent, not surprised that an app that was facilitating communication between dissidents (not saying that the riots are not without just cause, they are well within their rights to be pissed off at this bill) was attacked by the PRC.
