Keep in mind that you usually get what you pay for. free often means not very engineered or particularly useful

Generally speaking, I certainly agree.

I have however, come across quite a few freeware tools that are just as good (If not better) than paid alternatives. This developer of this site has coded each tool available for download, and I must It's quite Impressive.

I have to agree with @mothered here, nirsoft makes very decent freeware. I've used many of their tools before and was always satisfied with the results.
